Welcome to my amazing site
The name is Ahmed. I am a Canadian born Muslim and I LOVE my religion. So in case you’re wondering, no, i do not drink, blaze or engage in pre-marital sexual relations (let me tell you – it ain’t easy). Unfortunately Muslims are painted a bad image these days, and although I believe that it is the responsibility of a religion’s followers to exemplify its true nature and characteristics, I have to admit that many Muslims have a misunderstanding (or lack the correct knowledge) about Islam. Of course this has resulted in many stereotypes and unislamic actions being associated with the religion. With that said, I think if you study the religion of Islam from the original sources, that being the Quran and teachings of Prophet Muhammed, you will grow to love this beautiful religion as much as I do. I try my best to follow the Prophet and his teachings, but we all have our flaws.
Society’s ever changing values won’t phase me. I know who, what and why I am. I am one pillar with the strength of five… unbreakable. My values have been set and I will not break or bend. I bow my head not because I am weak but in an attempt to be humble. I know my purpose in life and realize that no matter how hard I try I can always do better. Because of this I am discriminated and misrepresented by those who do not take the time to understand me. I pray five times a day, not because I am forced, but because I choose to. I do not believe everything people say. I seek the one truth. Believe.
I’m currently a senior year student at the University of Guelph studying Economics and Finance and will be graduating in April 2011. I’m interested in pursing a Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designation in the future. My long-term career goal is to become an accounting professor. What it means to be a Muslim:
Mercy without boasting, gifts without terms, goodness without anger, forgive without reason. At any given time, always do your best to strive!
My favourite lyrics describe current affairs:
“Isn’t it sickening enough that we don’t really care?
Isn’t it sickening that we don’t wanna share?
Wish for my brother what I wish for my self
Try to love the world less, put my ego to rest
‘get rich or die tryin’ who ever said it was poor
won’t they ever gonna learn from the Pharaoh in gold”
